The Local Dive Sites

Ras Bob

Named after a British under water camerman Bob Johnson, this site was the location for the filming of a very famous British T.V. advert for Cheltnam and Gloucester.  Hi-lights include a huge eel garden, a dramatic reef wall and beautiful sandy inlets in the shallows.  Look out for crocodile fish and blue spotted sting rays on the sandy patches.

Ras Nasrani

This site has one of the largest formations of Porites corals in the world.  These stunning hard corals form undulating dunes of blues, greens, yellows and pinks.  Sometimes quite a fast drift dive, this site encompasses a reef wall, large sandy bay and stunning current swept plateau.  In summer it is an excellent spot to see Manta Rays.

Ras Ghamilla

A huge favourite with all our instructors, the name of this site fits it perfectly, meaning 'beautiful' in arabic.  A gentle sandy slope boasts hundreds of stunning coral pinnacles enveloped in life.  As you drift along you'll weave in and out of huge gorgonian fans and pass large schools of fish.  Look out for passing manta and eagle rays and large pelagic species such as barracuda.  A good place to spot guitar sharks in summer, this site is a marine treasure trove that needs several dives to do it justice.

Duration – 1.5 to 2 hours approx.
